Carroll Blaser, 81, of Columbus died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha. Services are 10:30 am Tuesday May 9 at St. Isidore Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation begins on Monday from 3-5 pm at McKown Funeral Home and after 6 pm at St. Isidore's. There will be a Vigil Service at 7 pm Monday, also at St. Isidore's. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 9:30 am until service time at St. Isidore's. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Platte County Historical Society or to the donor's choice.
Carroll Blaser was born October 19, 1924 in Columbus to Oscar & Lena (Schupbach) Blaser. He attended District 3 School and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus. Carroll was united in marriage to Leona Mimick on October 30, 1946. Leona passed away April 7, 1983. He later married Catherine (McCormick) Nipp on June 20, 1987. Carroll lived and farmed all his life in the Columbus area. Carroll was a member of the Co-op Board, Platte County Agricultural Society from 1991-97, Platte County Historical Society, the Eagles Club, and St Isidore Catholic Church. He also served on the Fire Department for 33 years, Lakeview School Board from 1974-1980, and the District 3 School Board. Carroll helped with Meals on Wheels and with Bingo at the Eagles Club. He loved gardening, farming, visiting with people, and playing cards.
