Carolyn (Glur) Johnson, 89, died Saturday, Aug 11, 2018 at Brookestone Acres, Columbus, NE.
Carolyn was born September 8, 1928 to Jacob and Anna (Witt) Glur. She grew up in a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, sharing a Swiss and German heritage. Carolyn graduated from Kramer High School in 1946 and remained in contact with classmates at monthly luncheons. She attended Doane College in Crete, NE, earning a two year teacher's certificate and taught school in Burwell, NE. Carolyn was united in marriage to Merle E. Johnson and throughout their marriage they embraced employment opportunities with the electrical union, and with each relocation, new friendships were formed and new adventures enjoyed. Together, Merle and Carolyn formed Johnson Electric in Columbus, NE and worked together until retirement. Over 40 years, they developed and built numerous real estate properties. Carolyn was a member of Towne and Country Extension Club, the Platte Valley Kinseekers, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and served on the Job's Daughter's Council. She was a member of the Federated Church. As a young adult, card playing became a part of family time. She passed this joy onto her children and grandchildren. Carolyn traveled and documented her familys genealogy and generously shared extensive records.
Carolyn is survived by daughter: Ruth (Ron) Ring of Lexington, KY, and their children Ben (Heather) Ring, Nicholasville, KY, Katie (Adam) Locklar of Lexington, KY, and their children, Caden, Naomi, Noelle, Cale, and Cayse; Luke (Kasey) Ring of Lexington, KY, and their children, Palmer, Leo, and Bowen; Son: Steve (Jeanne) Johnson, Columbus, NE, and their son Jake Johnson, Lincoln, NE daughter-in-law: JoAnn Johnson of Columbus, NE, and her childen, Andrea Johnson of St. Paul, MN, Becky (Ben) Beller of Columbus, NE, and their children, Adelyn, Nora, Ellen, and Jack; Danny Johnson and fiancee Becky Slater of Columbus, NE.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her husband Merle E. Johnson, and her son Mark J. Johnson.
