Carolyn Gronenthal, age 87, of Columbus died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Meridian Gardens in Columbus.
Carolyn was born December 3, 1925 in Lindsay, Nebraska to Peter and Mary (Haverland) Schumacher. She graduated from St. Edward High School. Carolyn married Carl O. Gronenthal on October 22, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. They lived in Platte Center, Temple, TX, Plymouth, IN, Des Moines, IA, Omaha, Plainview, Norfolk, and Humphrey before moving to Columbus in 1982. She worked as a waitress and in retail including Bruckners Store in Platte Center. She and her husband Carl owned and operated C.C. Implement Inc. in Humphrey. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and volunteered at the hospital.

Son: Terry ( Andrea) Gronenthal of Naperville, IL
Grandchildren: Eva, Nick and Jesse Gronenthal; Carly and Kevin Burkhardt; Pete Gronenthal; Matthew, Olivia and Jackson Gronenthal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, daughter Peggy, granddaughter Ila, sister Virginia, brothers Fran, Omer, Bus, Les, Mark and Carroll Schumacher.
