Carl F. Engel of Columbus died Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Carl F. Engel was born March 26, 1938 in Columbus to Ervin and Maye (Rolle) Engel. He grew up in Columbus where he attended Kramer High School before moving to Ulysses where he graduated from Ulysses High School. Carl was united in marriage to Shirley Jones on October 19, 1958 in Ulysses.
Carl enlisted in the US Navy on May 28, 1956. He served twenty years in the service including time in Vietnam and over the last few years on a nuclear submarine, the SSBN Benjamin Franklin and the SSBN Kam. Following his retirement from the service, Carl worked as the plant foreman for Moorman Mfg., farmed with his brother Jim, and worked for Schreiber Brothers.
Carl loved to collect coins, do puzzles with his great grandchildren, gardening and landscaping, hunting, Husker football, and going on Sunday drives with his brother, Jim. He was a member of the American Legion.

5 Grandchildren Megan, Katherine, Felicia, Jeremy, and Ethan
8 Great Grandchildren Haille, Hannah, Emory, Camryn, Gabe, Liam, Cadence, and Bella.
