Blanche Sutherland

Blanche died Friday, November 20, 2015 at Mory's Haven in Columbus.

Blanche Lavonne Sutherland was born April 18, 1930 to Gustaf and Ida Lena (Norling) Ohlund in Stanton Nebraska. She was the second youngest of ten children. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1948 and then received her Teaching Certificate. She first taught Country School near Stanton and later was a teacher for children with disabilities in Columbus, Nebraska. She married Malcolm Sutherland July 8, 1951. They had three children, Daniel, Robert and Kathleen. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus and the United Methodist Church in Stanton, Nebraska. Blanche enjoyed raising her children, reading, teaching, bargain hunting, playing the piano, and spending time with her grandkids and family.

Grandchildren: Corey (Jenny) Sylvester of Columbus, NE; Jason (Jessica) Sylvester of Genoa, NE; Amber (Chad) Wiedeman of Genoa, NE; Andrea Kathleen Sutherland of Lincoln, NE
Daughter: Kathleen (Fred) Mitzel of Edgeley, ND
Grandchildren: Robyn Kay (Chris) Lee of Oceanside, CA; James Robert Hassebrook of Omaha, NE
Great granddaughter: Shanmei Lee of Oceanside, CA. Step grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Blanche was preceded in death by: her Parents, Gustaf and Ida Lena (Norling) Ohlund; Husband: Malcolm James Sutherland and all of her nine brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Stanton or to the Columbus Public Library.
