Beverly Jean Gates, age 84, of Columbus died Saturday at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Beverly Jean (Case) Gates was born October 18, 1933 to Verne D. and Christine (Parker) Case in St. Edward, NE. She was baptized at St. John Episcopal Church in Albion, NE and attended St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus until her death. She was a member of the Crosier American Legion Post #226 in St. Edward Nebraska.
Beverly Jean attended Mt. Pleasant country school until they moved to St. Edward where she attended St. Edward Elementary and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1953. On March 16, 1962, she was united in married to Clinton Gates in Columbus, Nebraska.
In 1965, Jean went to work for Dales Electronic in Columbus where she worked until she decided to stay at home with her children while they were little. She went back to work in Columbus at Gibsons and Pamida until they closed, Schwesers, Torin and Woolworth until their closing, working then for JC Penny and Ultra Graphics until retiring.
Beverly Jean with her husband Clint, loved traveling to Detroit, MI to visit their son, Don and his wife Rola and their children: Ali, Amanda and Adam. She also loved being a grandma and visiting with them on the phone. She was an avid reader and loved to crochet. She loved gardening and her flowers and watching the Nebraska Football games with Clint.
Beverly Jean is survived by her husband Clinton, a son Don and his wife Rola and grandchildren Ali, Amanda and Adam of Detroit, Michigan
