Betty Scheinost of Columbus died Friday, January 27, 2012 at Columbus Community Hospital.

Betty L. Scheinost was born March 4, 1931 in Nemaha, NE to Gerald and Edna (Hall) Moore. She graduated from Nemaha High School in 1948. Betty first attended Peru State College before going to Bishop Clarkson nursing school in Omaha. Betty was united in marriage to Don Scheinost on November 12, 1950 at the Nemaha Christian Church. They lived in North Bend. Betty worked at a doctors office several years as a nurses aide. She moved to Columbus in the fall of 1964. Betty worked as the office manager for Columbus Cable before going to work at the Columbus Clinic. This renewed her interest in nursing and Betty returned to Platte College to complete her LPN degree. Betty went to work at Columbus Community Hospital where she worked until she retired in the early nineties. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and helped with funeral dinners. She was a member of the Oregon California Trails Association with which she traveled across many states with fellow members to follow the Oregon Trail. She also belonged to a genealogy society. Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, reading, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, and pets. Betty will be remembered for her peanut brittle at Christmas time which she shared with all her family and friends.

She is survived by:
Husband Don Scheinost of Columbus
Brother Dale (Ann) Moore of Denver, Colorado
Several Nieces and Nephews

She is preceded in death by:
Parents
Sister Mary Gress
