Betty Kumm, age 86, of Columbus, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Butler County Health Care Center.
Betty was born July 27, 1926 in Winner, South Dakota to John and Magdalene (Walker) Bartsch. She was raised by Carl and Magdalene (Walker) Wallen. Betty lived in Winner until age 12. She moved to Neligh, Nebraska and lived there until her marriage to Willard P. Kumm on November 15, 1942 at Eden Valley Lutheran Church. They resided on a farm northwest of Osmond. They lived in and around Bloomfield, Stanton, Louisville, Waverly and Lincoln. They moved to Columbus in 1959. She worked for Becton Dickenson from 1960 until her retirement in 1988.
Betty helped with the church dinners during special occasions for over 50 years. She also loved to crochet and crocheted many baby afghans for newborns and many wedding presents. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church from 1959 to present.
