Betty L. Gattermeyer-Lutjens

Betty L. Gattermeyer-Lutjens died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

Betty Lucille Gattermeyer-Lutjens was born August 9, 1931 in Platte Center to O.E. Doc and Lucille (Scheidel) Walgren. She graduated from Platte Center High School in 1948 and attended UNL. Betty married Duane Lutjens on March 5, 1950 in Columbus. The couple lived on a farm near Platte Center until moving to Columbus in August of 1974 due to Duanes failing health. Duane passed away on December 20, 1974. On August 12, 1983 she was united in marriage to Raymond Gattermeyer at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. Ray passed away on January 11, 1994. Betty worked for the Columbus Telegram in their customer service department for 19 years. She was member of Trinity Lutheran Church, ABWA, Bettys Club and other organizations. Betty enjoyed collecting pigs, bowling and attending her granddaughters events. She never missed a home softball game.
