Bette Braithwait of Columbus died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Mory's Haven in Columbus.
Elizabeth "Bette" Braithwait was born July 31, 1922 in Platte County, Nebraska to Herbert and Elsie (Schmitt) Schwantje. In 1940 she graduated from Kramer High School. On March 6, 1943 she married Delton F. Braithwait at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Bette worked at Becton Dickinson for 25 years. Following her retirement she worked part time at WalMart. Bette was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran Country Ladies Aid, a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and helped with the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was an avid sports fan and attended her children and grandchildren's events whenever possible. In later years, she watched sports on TV or listened to games on the radio. She especially loved to hear about her grandchildren's games.

Grandchildren:Jennifer Braithwait-Darrow,Jason Braithwait, Ryan Braithwait, Traci Nekoliczek, Mindy Braithwait, Darren Braithwait, Stephanie (Stan) Parzych, Cally (Mitch) Koch, Angela (Jon) Haussler, Brad (Jesse) Braithwait, Tony Braithwait, Cheryl Braithwait and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by:
