Bethel "Beth" Johnson of Columbus died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha.
Bethel Beth Johnson was born June 15, 1935 in Enola, NE to Cory and Hattie (Hide) Hartford. She grew up in Enola and graduated from Madison High School in 1952. On August 27, 1955 she was united in marriage to John Tom Johnson II at St. Bonaventure Church. Beth worked at the phone company in Madison before moving to Columbus where she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone. Beth then worked for Jackson Cleaners before going to work at the Columbus Telegram where she worked for 21 years. Beth also volunteered at the YMCA teaching knitting, helped with daycare, and was a frequent visitor with her dog at local nursing homes. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and listening to her sons music performances.

Brother Vernon (Claudine) Hartford of California
Brother Paul (Janie) Hartford of Monroe
Grandchildren: Amy (Dan) Haycock, Travis Allen, Kenny John Podany, Ashley Buman, and Nikki Buman
Great Grandchildren: Jana and Riley Lyon, Tristan Allen
Her dog Clancy and her cat Snowball
