Berneta L. Portman, 85, of North Platte died Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Mory's Haven in Columbus. Memorial services will be held at a later date with inurnment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln.
Berneta L. Portman was born October 7, 1920 in Franklin County, Nebraska to Howard and Mary Edith (Heinrich) Walburn. She grew up in Campbell, NE. and graduated from high school in Nelson, NE. She was united in marriage to Richard Portman, Sr. on Dec. 1, 1939 in Mankato, KS. They lived in Nelson, NE., Hanover KS., and Lincoln, NE. where Berneta worked for Havelock Bank. Upon retiring in 1986, she moved to North Platte. She enjoyed family and friends, traveling, husker football, and fishing.
She is survived by:

Daughter Mary (Russ) Adalian of San Diego, CA
Sister Jean Flower of North Richland Hills, Tx.
Grandchildren Erin (Keven) Lightner, Mathew Portman, Aaron Shunk, Ethan Shunk, Gloria Marie Adalian, C. Russell Adalian, Jr., Angela Marguerite (Tim) Crowder, and Garry Donald Adalian. Great Grandchildren Alexis Lightner, Kade Lightner, Cali Shunk, Christopher R. Buehner, Clayton M. Baquera, Anthony Scott, Wesley Adalian, and Dillon Adalian.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1976 and parents
