Bernardine Marie Swanson

Bernadine Marie Swanson, 81, of Columbus died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at her home in Columbus. Services are 10:30 am Friday, December 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. Visitation is on Thursday from 3-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Friday from 9:30 am until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 am Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Graveside services are at 2:00 pm Friday at the Stromsburg Cemetery.

Bernadine Marie Swanson was born November 1, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Carl and Margaret (Carls) Mattson. She grew up in Willmar, MN and attended Beauty College. Bernadine married Fred Boye, Sr. on May 24, 1947 in Webster, SD. He passed away in 1959. On August 4, 1960 she married Duane "Buck" Swanson in Seward, NE. He passed away in 1988. She lived most of her life in Stromsburg before moving to Columbus in 1979. She worked at Becton-Dickinson and retired after 21 years there. In 1999 she moved to Montana before returning to Columbus in 2004. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus and Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran Church. She liked to play Bingo and hang out with Lois.
