Bernard Zarek

Bernard, age 85, of Columbus, Nebraska died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.

Bernard L. Zarek was born June 19, 1927 in Platte County, Nebraska to Sylvester and Rose (Bernecki) Zarek. He received his education at St. Anthony Catholic School and Kramer High School in Columbus. He worked maintenance for Behlens Manufacturing and then for Central Sands and Gravel for 20 years. He was a member of St. Isidores Catholic Church and Holy Name. Bernie was a certified welder and also enjoyed artistic welding. He loved spending time with his family, playing cards, hunting , fishing and going for rides to view Columbus' progress.

Bernard is survived by his sister Mary Ann (Jim) Maslonka of Columbus and 16 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers: Leonard and Dominic, great nephew: Brett Maslonka, great niece: Jessica Maslonka.
