Benedict P. Liss, 73, of Bellwood died Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Columbus Community Hospital as a result of leukemia. Funeral services are 10:30 am Tuesday, August 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood with the Rev. Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Visitation is on Monday after 4:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus with a Vigil service at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 9:30 am until service time at St. Joseph Church. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia Society or to the donor's choice.

Benedict P. Liss was born January 4, 1932 in Silver Creek to Peter and Helen (Urkoski) Liss. He married Marian Laska on February 12, 1953 in Duncan. Ben lived in Nebraska including the last 33 years in Bellwood. He worked for Behlen Manufacturing. Ben was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellwood where he ushered and served on the cemetery board. He also served in the 134th Infantry Division of the Nebraska Army National Guard for eight years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and making wine.
