Benedict I. Cheloha, 77, of Columbus died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Bryan LGH-East in Lincoln. Services are 10:00 am Saturday, April 23, 2005 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation is on Friday from 4-7 at McKown Funeral Home. There will be a Vigil service at 7:00 pm Friday at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in All Saints Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Building Fund

Benedict Isidore Cheloha was born August 30, 1927 in Platte County to Martin and Mary (Stanczyk) Cheloha. He attended District 16 School. He married Lorene Drog on November 14, 1951 in St. Edward. He served in the US Army from 1951 - 1953. Following his time in the service, Benny farmed the family farm northwest of Duncan until 1974 when he retired and moved into Columbus. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where he served as an usher, the American Legion, Duncan Rural Fire Department Board for 15 years, Loup Precinct Election Board for 10 years, and the ASCS Committee for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and the horse races.
