Barbara "Bobbie" Schmid, age 86, of Bellwood, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the David Place Nursing Home in David City.
Barbara A. Schmid was born April 24, 1931 in Schuyler, Nebraska to Richard and Mildred (Janicek) Salak. She grew up in Schuyler where she graduated from Schuyler high in 1949. She married Ronald A. Schmid on August 6, 1951 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Schuyler. After her marriage she lived her life as a farm wife working on the farm. Bobbie and Ronnie operated a 40,000 hen cage laying chicken operation from 1963 until 1990. After retiring from the poultry business she worked at the New World Inn for several years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood. She enjoyed bowling on Friday nights for many years. She loved her flower gardens which were enjoyed by many.
