Barbara "Barb" Savage

Barbara (Barb) Savage, 92 passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025 at Brookstone Acres in Columbus NE.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The CDA Rosary is Thursday, September 4 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation 5:00- 7:00 p.m., followed by a Vigil at 7:00 p.m., all occurring at the Church . Burial is in St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Parish Center.

Barb was born on April 12, 1933 to Metro and Mary (Dyrbala) Beck.  She married Richard Savage on May 2, 1956 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Clarks, NE.

Barb graduated from Clarks High School in 1950 and attended Nebraska Christian College and taught rural country school for two years.  She moved to Columbus and was employed as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and completed her career as Operator Service Manager after 34 years with General Telephone Company.  She then worked for 11 years as National Yellow Pages Coordinator for Frontier Directory, retiring in 1999.

Barb was a charter member of St. Isidore Church in Columbus and active in their music ministry for many years.  She was a member of Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters Court Little Flower.  She was a hospital volunteer and sewed and crocheted baby blankets for the hospital gift shop.  She played piano for Masses at the Golden Living Center and was involved with Birthright Organization for many years.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eddie Beck, Charles Beck, Walter Beck, Albin Beck, Donnie Beck and her sisters Anna (Starostka), Catherine (Konwinski), Josephine Beck, Stella (Gonsior), Dorothy (Gonsior).

Those remaining to cherish her memory are son David (Dina) Savage, daughter Linda (Steve) Becker and son Michael (Kim) Savage.  Grandchildren Stephanie (Jason) Gonzalez, Wade (Micah) Savage, Angela (Mark) Fuhlrodt, Eric (Heather) Becker, Ryan Becker, Steven (fiancé Noelle) Savage, Jonathan Savage, eight great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  Sister Rose Anderson.
