Barbara Benda

Barbara Benda, age 94 of Shelby, died Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Society in Osceola.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Thursday, June 18 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation is on Wednesday from 5-7 pm with a 7:00 pm Vigil service to follow, all at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Thursday from 9:30 am until service time at the Church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Barbara Lee Benda was born March 5, 1932 to Raymond and Lillian (Seberger) Jones. Barbara at her younger age worked for families caring for children and doing household chores. Later on she worked for Dale Electronics and then at Becton Dickinson for 28 years.

Barbara married Louis Benda and to this union 4 children were born, Peggy, Joann, Louis Jr., and Mike. Barbara enjoyed bowling, flowers and Bingo. She loved going to Colorado and visiting her sister, Pat where they ventured to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed visiting Hawaii with her friends Neal and Thala where she was able to take a helicopter ride. Barbara especially enjoyed her grandkids watching them grow up.
