Aurelia Flores-Perez, known as Carmen Flores by her family and friends, was born the 27th day of August 1939 in Mejicanos, San Salvador, El Salvador. Aurelia made her journey to the United States in 1979 in hopes of bringing her children and future generations for a better life. First, she arrived in Los Angeles, California living there for a few years, later moving and settling in Nebraska in 1994.
Aurelia enjoyed leaving her apartment for peaceful walks, listening to the birds sing and having her grandchildren tag along for trips to the playground. She spent her mornings in bible study followed by walks to Columbus's thrift stores. But the one thing she treasured most was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family was the most important to her.
Aurelia was known for her great sense of humor and tough love. She could make you laugh and appreciate the gift of life all in one. She was a selfless woman who gave the food out of her mouth to those who needed it most. She will always be remembered as a survivor because of her difficult life, she seemed tough on the outside but she internally had a heart of gold and only those close to her could understand and appreciate such a woman.
Aurelia is survived by her three children. Maria Flores, Manuel Lopez-Flores -Paty, Karen X Gomez-Flores -Jose. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren as well as five great grandchildren. Aurelia is now reunited with her late mother Adela Flores as well as her late grandson Freddy Garcia- Flores.
