Arlyn Borchers

Arlyn Borchers of Platte Center died Monday, October 23, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.

Arlyn Borchers was born March 14, 1935 on the farm NW of Platte Center to Johnny and Emma (Siebler) Borchers. He attended District 14 rural school. Arlyn entered the US Army where he served for a short time before returning to the Platte Center area. Arlyn went to work for Habco Mfg in Platte Center. He then went to work at Bruckners Mercantile as a butcher. He was united in marriage to Rita Jostes on September 4, 1965 at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center. In 1976, Arlyn went to work for the Platte County Highway Department until retiring in 2002. Arlyn was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Magnificent Seven, and previously served on the Platte Center Village Board. He played on the town baseball team for many years and bowled for the PC Pile Drivers. Arlyn enjoyed playing Pinochle with his friends. He loved watching all sports on TV, especially baseball. Arlyn was an avid Yankees fan and was also a thoroughbred horse racing enthusiast.
