Tony Divis died February 21, 2024 in Columbus, NE. He was born Anton Divis on a farm near of Loma, July 9th, 1937; son of Anton Divis and Emma Polivka. Tony was raised in Bruno, NE and graduated from David City High in 1956. During high school Tony lettered in football, basketball and track and was the class president his junior year.
While majoring in Engineering at UNL Tony married Jane Boroviak, January 24, 1959 and together they raise three children. Tony was an excellent high school athlete and earned a track scholarship at the University of Nebraska; where he would eventually break the UNL discus record. Tony earned Masters degrees in both Engineering and Business.
Tony worked for NPPD for 35 years and was onsite during construction of the Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, NE and was NPPD's General Manager during the construction of Gerald Gentleman Station (coal fired power plant), Nebraska's largest electric generating facility, near Sutherland, NE. After retiring from NPPD Tony worked full-time with his wife Jane to build a lucrative rentals and farming business. Tony focused on building things, which was one of his favorite things to do.
Mostly, however, Tony was an avid outdoorsman. Growing up in Bruno, he began hunting around the age of 10 and never lost his passion for it. All his spare time, between building projects, was spent planning for his next big hunting trip in Colorado, Wyoming, or Idaho.
Tony will be remembered for his amazing work ethic and the respect he earned as a fair, honest, and tough human being. He was the living definition of the strong and silent type. He also had an amazing way with animals.
Tony is preceded in death by his wife Jane Divis and daughter, Dee Ann Divis.
Tony is survived by his sons Dave and Dean Divis; daughter-in-law, Deborah Divis; and grandchildren Brielle, Basie, and Miles Divis
