Angela Sand

Angela Sand of Columbus died Monday, January 15, 2018 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

Angela (Preister) Sand was born on Feb. 2, 1919 in Cornlea, NE to Ben and Anna Preister and was the oldest of 12 children. She attended school in Cornlea and later worked in Omaha. She married Charles Sand Sr. on Oct. 3, 1942 in Kansas City, MO before he was deployed overseas. She was active on the Lindsay District 29 School Board, Lindsay Auxiliary, 4-H Leader and the Holy Family Parish while living in Lindsay. Charlie and Angela operated Sand's Market for 32 years and she also worked at Lindsay Manufacturing before they moved to Columbus. In Columbus she was a member of the St. Isidore Church, was passionate for the St. Isidore's Quilting Ladies and loved volunteering where she could.

She is survived by 4 daughters Susan Brandt of Columbus, Mary (Dick) Nathan of Blair, Charlene (Gary) Yindrick of David City, and Danette (Lowell) Stone of Saint Edward, daughter in law, Carol Sand of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren; brother Dick (Gerry) Preister of Lindsay; sisters Helen Wegener of Columbus, JoAnn Rossell of Omaha, Bemette Hamling of Beaver Crossing; sisters-in-law Mardell Preister, Millie Preister of Lindsay, Mildred Preister of Columbus and Ann Sand of Humphrey; brother-in-law Francis (Lucille) Sand of Humphrey.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Anna Preister; husband Charles Sand Sr.; son Charles Sand Jr. and son-in-law Allen Brandt; brothers, Art (LaRose) Preister, Alvin Preister, Leon (Shirley) Preister, Jim Preister; sisters, Bernice Preister, Imelda Melcher and Sr. Bernice (Mary Ann) Preister.

Angela loved her family, had a Heart of Gold and was friends with everyone she met. She loved to quilt, sew, play scrabble and word games and belonged to several card clubs.

She was truly an "Angel on Earth."
