Andrew "Andy" Jarecki, age 83, of Platte Center, died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
Andrew L. Jarecki was born November 25, 1934 near Monroe, Nebraska to Edmund and Mary (Barnash) Jarecki. Andy started school at St. Joseph in the 3rd grade and graduated from Platte Center High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army from1954-56 where he was stationed in Korea. Andy married Barbara Mustard on September 27, 1958 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Clarks, NE. Andy worked with his father and brothers shelling corn, grinding feed, and hauling livestock before branching out and starting his own trucking firm of A J & Sons in 1977 with his sons hauling livestock. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and he helped serve Mass for many years. Andy was life long resident of Platte Center, NE. Andy was always ready for a good card game of sheephead , or a road trip to the casino. Andy was a man of strong faith and was always ready to help others, whether it be driving someone to an appointment or having a cup of coffee and conversation with them. His passion of driving semis, was passed on down through the generations to his sons and grandchildren. Andy loved attending his grandchildren's activities, one could always see him on the bleachers watching a football or a softball game.
