Alvin J. Lippert, age 81, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska formerly of Columbus died Monday, February 2, 2004 at the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday February 5, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus with Reverend Douglas Zurek officiating. Visitation is after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. with a 10:15 a.m. Family Prayer Service at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial is in the Columbus Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Nebraska Masonic Home.
Alvin J. Lippert was born May 21, 1922 in Omaha to George and Alwine (Meyer) Lippert. He graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1942. He served in the US Army during WWII from 1943-1946. On December 19, 1944 he married Helen Brunken in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. In 1956 he went to work for Behlen Manufacturing until retiring from Behlen's in 1984. Alvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. He was a member of the Lebanon Lodge #323, A.F. & A.M., Platte Valley York Rite, and Harmony Chapter #13. O.E.S. Alvin was a member of the Hartman Post #84 American Legion in Columbus. He has played in the Columbus Community Band for several years.
