Alta "Toots" Alshouse

Alta "Toots" Alshouse, age 88 formerly of Columbus, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022, in Shawnee, Kansas.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at McKown Funeral Home with Rev. Cindi Stewart officiating. Visitation is 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. All Monetary Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Columbus.

Alta Lou Alshouse (Toot) was born June 10, 1933, in Fremont, NE to Paul and Myrtle (Wade) Riley. She was one of nine children. Alta attended Fremont Public Schools, where she received her education.

Alta met her first husband, Lavern Weyer. The couple had six children: Jim, Carol, Sandy, Ron, Chris, and Loryn.

Alta married Robert Alshouse (Columbus, NE) on October 17, 1969. Together, the couple owned and operated Grand Ole Auction and Bob and Toots Furniture Store in Columbus for many years.

Alta was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she loved and volunteered her services. She loved bowling, traveling, stock car racing, the Huskers, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. Toots had a special place in her heart for her family and loved each and every one of them. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and never knew a stranger.
