Alma Schumacher

Alma Schumacher, 92, of Platte Center, died peacefully Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at home in Fountain Hills, AZ. Private family Interment will be held at Saint Patrick's/Joseph Cemetery, in Platte Center, Nebraska.

Alma was born September 1, 1931 in Humphrey NE to William and Anne (Velder) Vanderheiden.

Alma married Ralph Schumacher in 1948. They lived in Platte Center until retiring in Arizona in 2015. Alma was a member of the Saint Ann's Society of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Platte Center. Alma enjoyed entertaining guests, spending time with family, going to movies, and traveling. Alma loved to tell the story of how Lawrence Welk, a personal friend of her parents, taught her to dance.

Alma worked for 15 years at the Columbus gift shop "Take A Gander".

Alma is survived by her son Mick, her daughters Bobbi (Tim) Weiss, Connie (Gary) Novak and Cindy (Phil) Robinson, twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Schumacher, her parents, her brother Ray and sisters Doris and Rita.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Danny Thomas Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
