Allen Merrill

Allen L. Merrill, 55, of Platte Center died Saturday July 13, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services are 10:30 am Wednesday July 17, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 am until service time at the Methodist Church in Silver Creek. Interment will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post #263 Honor Guard.

Allen L. Merrill was born November 27, 1946 in Genoa to Clifford & Grace (Dick) Merrill. Allen grew up in Silver Creek and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1965 and was a member of the United Methodist Church. Following high school he entered the US Army and served from 1966-1968. He returned to Silver Creek. He married Lois Wemhoff on December 2, 1972 in Humphrey and moved to Platte Center. He worked for Behlen Manufacturing, Saunders Archery, D & L, and Columbus Hydraulics. He also worked as a painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and gardening. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Silver Creek.
