Allen J. Fuchs, 74, of Columbus, formerly of Madison, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Beverly Health Care in Columbus. Services are 10:00 am Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. David Fulton officiating. Visitation is on Tuesday from 4-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a Vigil service at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 8-9:30 am at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison with military honors by the American Legion Jones/Radant Post #35 and VFW Post 5763 Honor Guard Members. There will be a lunch served at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Madison following the burial. Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis School Endowment Fund or to the Alzheimers Association.
Allen J. Fuchs was born November 22, 1931 in Norfolk to Michael and Elizabeth (Bruckner) Fuchs. He grew up on a farm in Pierce County and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1949. He farmed with his Uncles in the Humphrey area before entering the service. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. Allen married Audrey Chittenden on April 12, 1958 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Battle Creek. He lived and farmed until the late 1990's in the Madison and Humphrey area. In 1988 he received a Natural Resources District Conservation Award. Allen loved work, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of St. Francis Church in Humphrey until moving to Columbus in July of 2004 where he joined St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
