Alice Catherine Soulliere, 90, of Lincoln, formerly of Platte Center, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center with the Rev. Rod Kneifl officiating. Visitation is on Thursday from 3:00 -5:00 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus and continues after 6:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center. There will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church. Visitation continues Friday morning from 9:00 -10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center. Interment is in Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in rural Platte Center.
Alice Catherine Soulliere was born July 18, 1915 in Platte County to Mathias and Mary (Hilliard) Schilz. Upon the death of their father in 1919, the children were separated and she was sent to live with Andrew and Agnes Kuta along with her brother George. Alice stayed with them until she was 19. She married John E. Soulliere on July 20, 1939 in Omaha, Nebraska. From 1942 1945 they were both employed at the Glen L. Martin Bomber Plant in Ft. Crook, Nebraska. After the end of World War II, they returned to Platte Center, where John resumed his auto mechanic business. Alice was a homemaker and also worked for the Columbus Community Hospital in the Housekeeping Department from 1978 until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, member and former President of St. Anns Sodality and served as secretary on the St. Joseph Parish Council.
Alice loved baking and doing her own yard work.
