Alfred Stopak

Alfred Stopak died Monday, November 11, 2024 at his home in Duncan.

Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 15th at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service to follow at St. Stanislaus Church. Visitation will continue 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Church Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by The American Legion Post #263 Silver Creek

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Stanislaus Church.

Alfred was born on July 29th, 1937 in Silver Creek, NE to Edward and Helene (Cuba) Stopak. He attended school in Silver Creek and Krakow, NE. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59. Alfred was united in marriage to Phyllis (Liss) on April 28, 1962.  They were married for almost 63 years.

He worked at Columbus Hydraulics for many years.  He also farmed west of Duncan where he lived for 30 years before moving to town.  After retirement he worked at Husker Co-op. Alfred enjoyed farming, listening to polka music, playing cards, video poker and tinkering in his garage. He was a member of the American Legion Post #263 in Silver Creek and past Holy Name member of St. Stanislaus Church.

Alfred is survived by wife Phyllis, son Doug and daughter-in-law Lori Stopak, daughter Paula and son-in-law Ron Lueschen, daughter Keri and son-in-law Aaron Klusmire.  Grandchildren Justin and Rose Stamm, Alex and Haley Haefner, Joey Stamm and Brooke Richards, Avery and Josie Klusmire. Brother John and Janet Stopak, sister JoAnn and Dennis Kelly, brother-in-law Ray Kush, sister-in-law Pat Stopak, sister-in-law Patricia Triba, sister-in-law Shari Liss, and many more family and friends.

He is preceded in death by parents Edward and Helene Stopak, brother Louis and Virginia Stopak, brother Edward and Elaine Stopak, brother Richard Stopak, brother Jerry Stopak, sister Pat Kush, brother-in-law Joe and Kathy Liss, brother-in-law Fred Liss, brother-in-law Larry and Jane Liss, and in-laws Joseph and Dorothy Liss. Nephews Kraig Stopak and Keith Liss.
