Albert "Al" B. Tucek, 76, of Columbus died Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at his home. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Visitation is Friday 3-6 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. A vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Church. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

Albert B. Tucek was born February 4, 1927 in Silver Creek to Albert Peter & Margaret Elizabeth (Sellar) Tucek. He grew up in Columbus, attended St. Bonaventure Grade School, and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1945. He was a Corporal in the US Army during Korea from 1950-1952. He married Barbara Jane Allen on April 24, 1954 in Tekamah. He returned to Columbus where he worked for Western Power & Gas, later Minnegasco, until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, President of the Holy Name Society, perpetual adoration, member of the Mixed Choir, Scotus Athletic Hall of Fame, and for a long time was the timekeeper at Scouts Athletic Events. Al was a member of Hartman Post #84 American Legion where he received his 50 year membership and the Legion Choir. He was past Commander of the Hartman Post, District 7 Commander, the Area B Vice Commander, Chairman of the State Legion Publication & Public Relations Committee, editor of the Post Paper, and the Boy's State Chairman for 40+ years. He enjoyed softball and basketball.

Daughter: Jeannie (Keith) Ernst of Lincoln, NE
Sister: Mary Jo Tucek of Columbus, NE
Granddaughter: Ashlee Ernst of Lincoln, NE

Al is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to donors choice, St. Bonaventure Church or Scotus High School.
