Adeline Mccarty

Adeline E. McCarty, age 83, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Reverend M. Wendell Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Mapleton, Iowa.

Adeline E. McCarty was born September 8, 1923 in Mapleton, Iowa to Logan and Anna (Johnson) Leigh. She grew up on a farm in western Iowa. Adeline received her Masters Degree in music from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She married Melvin K. McCarty in 1942. Adeline taught school at Boy's Town in Omaha and at Gretna and gave piano and vocal lessons at her home in Lincoln. She moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1990 where she was able to further her interest in vocal music. In 1997 Adeline moved to Columbus to be closer to her family.
