Adeline "Addie" Chapek, age 67, of Wahoo, Nebraska, formerly of Columbus died Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the Saunders County Medical Center in Wahoo.

Private Family Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2020 at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus.

Adeline "Addie" Doris Chapek (Kozisek) aged 67 died on May 23 rd , 2020 peacefully at home. She was born on July 19 th , 1952 in Macy Nebraska. She was raised in rural Polk county and attended Shelby Public Schools. She married John Chapek on May 7th,1994 at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus. They and resided in Wahoo, Nebraska where she was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska and was active participant in Pro-Life and Walk For Life Lincoln marches.

Addie held a variety of jobs over the years in Columbus such as Appleton, Addie's Daycare, Addie's Upholstery, the Transitional Living Center (TLC), Home Instead, Sunrise Place and Vocational Rehabilitation. During her most active years, she volunteered countless hours helping those recovering from substance abuse and domestic violence. She spent her remaining free time reading, gardening, camping and junk-shopping. Friends often said "Addie made you feel at home, you felt like family."

In 2005, Addie suffered a life altering stroke which revealed a brain tumor. She bravely battled and survived brain cancer, but not unscathed. She lived with significant disabilities for the last 15 years as a result of the cancer.

She was proceeded in death by her birth mother, Susie White. Adopted parents, Rudy and Jane (Medley) Kozisek. Her three brothers, Kenneth Ray Kozisek, Stanley White, and her daughter, Beth Ann Brown.

She was survived by her loving husband, John Chapek and her children, Fred Brown (Shena Brown) of Swansea, IL, John Coffin (Dawn Coffin) of Seward, NE and daughter, Summer McLauchlan of Columbus, NE. Step-sons Jason Chlopek (Lisa Chlopek), Chris Chapek and step-daughter Terra Chapek. Eleven grandchildren, Kendra, Jaelyn, Garret, Joseph, AJ, Emily, Natalie, Cole, Kaelyn, Jaxton, Arik and one great-grandson Hayden. Brother Tom White (unknown). As well as her three beloved rescue pets, dogs Claire and Charlie and cat, Ms. Kitty.
