Adam died Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Adam Ralph Torson was born February 4, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Vincent and Hedwig (Zelasney) Torson. He attended schools west of Fullerton, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from September 1946 - June 1947. On December 9, 1950 Adam was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Nordeen in Albion, Nebraska. He worked for Behlen Manufacturing for 13 years. The couple also owned and operated the Torson Tavern in Duncan, Nebraska. Adam then went to work for D&L until retiring in 1989 after 22 years. In 1990 the couple moved to Schuyler and managed the Valley Court Motel until 1999. Adam then worked part-time at the Husker Bar. He enjoyed wood-working and making Herbie Husker and Lil Red signs. He also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, polka music and playing Santa Claus. He was a Charter Member of the V.F.W. Post #10724 in Duncan, past member of the Silver Creek American Legion and a current member of the Schuyler American Legion Post. He was a member of St. Augustine Church in Schuyler and a past member of the St. Stanislaus Church in Duncan where he served 4 years as president of the Holy Name Society. In 2006 he became a member of St. Isidore Church in Columbus.
