Arnold"Arnie" Wayne Lewis, 75, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at his home in Columbus. Memorial services are 11:00 am Saturday, January 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time Saturday at the Church. Military Honors will be conducted by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Interment will be at a later date in Paxton, NE.
Arnold Wayne Lewis was born October 5, 1928 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Robert T. & Marie Violet (Leist) Lewis. He received his education in Wyoming before entering the US Army where he served in the South Pacific during World War II and served in Korea and Japan during the Korean Conflict. He married Lila Jean Gifford in September of 1957 in Paxton, NE. He worked in Portland, Oregon as a Draftsman before coming to Columbus where he worked for 24 years at Becton-Dickinson, lastly as a truck driver before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus, past member of the VFW Post 3704, and the American Legion in Paxton. He loved to read, listen to the radio, and his dog.
He is survived by his wife, Lila Lewis, and two sons; Ryan and Wayne Lewis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Robert and Ronald Lewis.
