Cecilia Kamphaus, age 56 of Columbus, died Saturday; December 7, 2002 at her home in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday; December 11, 2002 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. The Rev. Tom Weisbecker will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 3-8 p.m. A Catholic Daughter of America rosary will be held at 3:00 p.m. A parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. all at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Wednesday 8-10 a.m. also at the funeral home.
Cecilia Kamphaus was born November 16, 1946 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Edward and Betty (Tripp) Dziowgo. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in O'Neill, Nebraska in 1964. She then attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Francis Kamphaus on June 11, 1966 in O'Neill, Nebraska. She lived in O'Neill until moving to Norfolk. In 1972 Cecilia moved with her family to Columbus where she has lived since. Along with being a homemaker she had worked at Nebraska Public Power District. She was an active member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. She was involved in the Right to Life, Catholic Daughters of America, and founded the Junior Catholic Daughters and was a former Cub Scout Leader. Cecilia was an advocate for organ donation. She was an active volunteer donating her time to many causes and charities.
