David A. Janky, 54, of Columbus died Monday; December 30, 2002 at his home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday; January 3, 2003 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. The Rev. Mark Bridgman will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 pm Friday in the Ss. Peter/Mary/Presentation Cemetery-rural Bellwood. Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. A vigil will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will continue Friday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time, all at the church.
David A. Janky was born November 16, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Albin A. and Dorothy (Nozicka) Janky. He grew up in the Bellwood area. He attended St. Anthony in Columbus and graduated from Scotus Central Catholic High School in 1967. He then attended and graduated from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1971 with a degree in mechanized agriculture. He went to work for Fleischer Manufacturing and later worked for Beverly Health Care, both in Columbus. On September 10, 1983 he was married to Debra Zavodsky at St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood. He had been active in Junior Achievement, Optimist Club, and St. Bonaventure Church where he served as an usher. He enjoyed sports.
