Wilfred A. Jahn, age 83, died Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Columbus Community Hospital. He was born October 12, 1922 in rural Osceola, NE to Joseph and Mary (Casterline) Jahn. He graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1938.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2006 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. The Rev. Tom Weisbecker will officiate. Visitation is Thursday 5-7 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening also at the funeral home. Visitation will Friday morning 8-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Catholic Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion, Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard. Wilfred was a member of the D.A.V. and a life member of the V.F.W. Memorials are directed to the family.

Wilfred served in the United States Air Corp during W. W. II from January 8, 1943 to June 6, 1945. He was Staff Sergeant and flew with the 15th Air Force as a 1st Flight Engineer and Gunner in the Italian Campaign. Wilfred was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation Badge, Air Medal, Purple Heart, and 2 battle stars.

Wilfred married Patti Hauserman November 28, 1945 in Scottsbluff, NE. at St. Agnes Catholic Church. They moved to Columbus, NE in 1946 where he was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. He was employed with Greyhound Bus Depot for 20 years. Wilfred was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener.



Survivors are loving wife, Patti; son/daughter-in-law, Steve Jahn (Joan) Columbus, NE;

Daughter/son-in-law, Connie (Jahn) Gormley (Ron), Lincoln, NE., and son/daughter-in-law, Mike Jahn (Christine), LasVegas, NV.

Grandsons/spouses, Jeffrey Jahn (Amy), Columbus; David Jahn (Jennifer), Omaha, Mitchell Jahn, Columbus, and Parker Jahn (LasVegas). Granddaughter, Jennifer (Borer), Lincoln, NE. and Adopted-Grandchildren, Scott and Chrissy, Las Vegas, NV

Great Grandchildren, Joseph and Caitlin Jahn, Columbus, NE. Taylor, Allie, Faith, and Megan Jahn, Omaha, NE.

Brother, Marv Jahn of Columbus, NE. Sister, Rose (Jahn) Pratt (Don) of Livingston TX. Nieces, Kathy LaCrosse, OH; Mary and Bill Sweeney; Nephews, Kerry Gilbertson, and David Pratt, all of TX. Great nieces, Lauren and Leah Sweeney, TX.



Preceded in death by his father and mother, infant brother and nephew Kevin.
