Glenn I. Forre, age 87, of Bellwood, Nebraska died Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the Bellwood United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Schutt will officiate. Visitation is Friday 3-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home and Saturday 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Bellwood Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #327-Bellwood.
Glenn I. Forre was born September 18, 1919 near Newman Grove to Gunder G. and Valda (Hanson) Forre. He grew up in the Newman Grove area where he received his early education. Glenn served in the United States Army during World War II from February 21, 1941 until August 29, 1945, serving 42 months in the South Pacific War Zone. Glenn and Dorothy Romshek, daugher of Henry C. and Gertrude Romshek, were married at Bellwood on December 29, 1946 and to this union one son was born.He graduated from the University of Nebraska where he received his B.S. degree in Agriculture in 1949. He taught in the On The Farm Training Program and farmed prior to being employed at Columbus Production Credit Association (PCA) retiring in 1981. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, travel, reading, and Nebraska Football. He was a member of the American Legion Post #327-Bellwood, VFW and DAV both of Columbus, and the Bellwood United Methodist Church.
