Marvin Dickenson, 75, of Columbus died Friday, January 17, 2003 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln. Services are 10:30 am Tuesday, January 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Visitation is on Monday from 4-8 pm at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues on Tuesday from 9:30 am until service time at the Methodist Church. Interment is in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.

Marvin "Moon" Dickenson was born July 25, 1927 in St. Edward to Filmore and Blanche (Creery) Dickenson. He grew up in St. Edward and Spirit Lake, IA, attending schools in each. Moon entered the US Navy during WWII where he was aboard the USS Valencia. He returned from the service and married Donaldeen Goodman on March 25, 1948 in Lawrence, KS. He started in the trucking business at an early age helping his father. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for a construction company in Iowa before returning to Columbus. In Columbus he was an owner/operator in the Transportation department of Behlen Mfg. Along with Jack Van Berg, Moon started Moonliner, Inc., a livestock hauling operation. In his later years he owned/operated Dickenson Transportation until 1998. He was an avid Sprint Car enthusiast, enjoyed golf, was a Husker fan since youth, and enjoyed traveling in his R.V. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus where he was an usher and served on the Missions Committee. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles Club, and the Elks Club. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and grandfather who loved attending his grandchildren's events.
