Gregory J. DeMarco, age 86, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Tom Weisbecker officiating. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Graveside Services are 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha with military honors by V.F.W. Post #2503.

Gregory Joseph DeMarco was born March 4, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska to Ralph and Fortunata (Mazarese) DeMarco. He graduated from Holy Family and Omaha Tech in 1937. Gregory served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from June 1943 to December 1945 being stationed in Noma Calidonia, Guadal Canal and Agana in Guam. In 1953 he married Virginia Johnson in Omaha. Gregory was a meat cutter for Hinky Dinky in Omaha for 12 years and also for No Frills Supermarket before becoming owner of Gus & Greg's IGA store in Omaha. In 1980 he moved to Columbus. On May 15, 1982 Gregory was united in marriage to Dorothy (Moore) McChristy. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, 40 & 8 Club, Elks Club and Hartman Post #84 American Legion.

Grandson: Darren (Sang) DeMarco of Falls Church, VA
Granddaughter: Elizabeth Murphy of Washington State,
Four Great Grandchildren
Step-Grandson: William Quint (Yuko Oga) Baldwin of Fukuoka, Japan
Step-Grandson: Spencer Baldwin of Glastonbury, CT
Step-Granddaughter: Hollis Baldwin of Arcata, CA
