Charley Cimburek, 84, of Veblen, SD died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus, NE. Services are 10:30 am Saturday, May 12 at St. John's Nepomucine Church in Veblen. There will be a Rosary on Friday, May 11 at 7:00 pm, also at the church in Veblen. There is no visitation. Interment is in St. Matthews Cemetery in Veblen.
Charley Joe Cimburek was born November 20, 1922 on a farm west of Veblen, SD to Frank and Margaret (Vrchota) Cimburek. He attended Veblen Public Schools and received his GED in 1993. Charley entered the US Army on October 28, 1944. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Conflict until his discharge on November 27, 1946. Charley married Pat Curran on June 10, 1957 at St. John's Nepomucine Church. Charley worked at a creamery and then at the Spring Valley Cheese Plant for 48 years as a cheese and butter maker. He was a lifetime member of the Eddie Robertson Post #76 of the American Legion where he served as past commander. Charley was a member of St. John's Nepomucine Church in Veblen and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Charley was involved in nature and the preservation of bluebirds having worked with North Dakota State University to help track the population of bluebirds and other waterfowl. He was also involved in archaeological digs in the surrounding area. Memorials are suggested to the family wishes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 infants sons, 1 grandson William and a brother, Frank Cimburek.
