Edmund Paul Cieloha, age 84, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday; December 30, 2002 at the V.A. Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday; January 3, 2003 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday 4-8 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. A vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Visitation will continue Friday morning 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. all at the funeral home.
Edmund P. Cieloha was born May 18, 1918 in Nance County, Nebraska to John and Josephine (Swertzic) Cieloha. Edmund served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II from March 1942 - January 1946. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Ksiazek on June 9, 1947 in Clarks, Nebraska. Following his discharge from the service Edmund lived and farmed in Nance County and worked for the Rail Road for 8 years. He was a member of St. Isidore Church, Holy Name Society, and the Hartman Post #84 American Legion. In 1985 the couple retired and moved to Columbus. Ed loved Polish music and keeping up on current events.
