Joseph "Bud" R. Chleboun, 68, of Columbus died Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Immaunel Medical Center in Omaha. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Monday, November 13 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton with the Rev. Tim Lange officiating. Visitation is on Sunday from 2-5 pm at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with a Vigil service at 5:00 pm, also at the church. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 9:30 am until service time at St. Peter's Church in Stanton. Interment is in the Stanton Cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Post #3602 and American Legion Post #88. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Isidore's Church, St. Peter's Church, or to the donor's choice.

Joseph "Bud" R. Chleboun was born February 19, 1938 in Stanton, NE to Joe and Angie (Erychleb) Chleboun. He grew up in Stanton where he graduated from Stanton High School in 1955. Bud entered the US Army where he served in Japan from 1956-1957. Upon his return he farmed with his dad in Stanton County. Bud married Arlene Willers on October 4, 1960 in Norfolk. They lived in Columbus for a few years where Bud worked for Fleischer Manufacturing before returning to Stanton County where he continued farming and also worked for Pilger Sand and Gravel. Arlene died in 1998. Bud married Alice (Anderson) Staroscik on November 18, 2000 in Columbus where they have resided since. Bud enjoyed fishing (especially in Canada), hunting, the outdoors, gardening, polka music, dancing and also played in the Don Telecky Band and other bands. He was the first Grand Knight of the Stanton Council of the Knights of Columbus and was a current member of the Knights of Columbus Council 12086 in Columbus. Bud was a 4th degree member of the John F. Kennedy Assembly. Bud was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where he was involved in Holy Name and the second marriage group. Bud also was involved in the CEC retreats in Norfolk. Bud was a volunteer at the hospital and served as the President of the rural District #28 School Board and on the Farmers Union Co-op Board of Directors.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Arlene and his parents.
