Bennie Albert Bardsley Sr., 88, of Monroe passed away February 25, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln after a week of being treated for severe burns when his clothing caught on fire. Services are 10:30 am Wednesday, March 1, at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus. Visitation is on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Interment is in Roselawn Cemetery.
Bennie was born June 22, 1917 in Pottawattamie County in Iowa to Walter and Emma (Wright) Bardsley. He married Elizabeth Mae "Libby" Bradley. They had thirteen children. Their first child James Albert is deceased. The surviving children are Bonnie Jean Marie (Henry) Peach of Monroe, Nancy Mae Bardsley of Quinlan, Texas, Mary A. Morris of Columbus, Pamela Sue (Marlin) Keeler of Elkhorn, Debra Jo Berchtold (Husband Kurt A. Berchtold II is deceased), Sherry Lee Bardsley of Monroe, Patsy Ann (Jim) Cornelius of Grand Island, Jodie Alberta (Dan) Burger of Leigh, Bennie Albert (Cathy) Bardsley, Jr. of Bellwood, Brenda Lee Korus of Columbus, Tommie Albert (Tracey) Bardsley, Sr. of Beatrice, and Todd Albert (Laurie) Bardsley of Columbus. They have 26 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Ben was a welder for over 25 years at Behlen Manufacturing. He enjoyed making hay, all his animals, and traveling. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren very much.
