Cecil Irwin, age 89, of Columbus died Friday, August 24, 2007 at his daughter's home in Columbus. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at McKown Funeral Home. Rev. Douglas Zurek will officiate. Visitation is Monday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in the Roselawn Cemetery.
Cecil Irwin was born June 16, 1918 in Palmer, Nebraska to Raymond and Anna (Yonk) Irwin. He married Mary Ellen Greser on September 10, 1939. They had one daughter Betty Jean. They lived in Columbus for many years where he worked for the Sale Barn. They moved to Villa Park, Illinois where he worked for Wilson Farms with Clydesdale horses for 10 years. They then moved to St. Louis where he worked for Anheuser Busch with their Clydesdale Team. They traveled all over the U.S. before moving to Kentucky and managing Jack Van Berg's Farm. Upon retirement he returned to Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and betting on the horses.
