Funeral Service
11:00 am Tuesday at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus

Visitation
Visitation is on Monday from 5-7 pm at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service, also at the church. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 10 am until service time at the church

Interment
Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

John C. Wiehn, 49, of Columbus died Friday, January 4, 2008 as result of an automobile accident north of Columbus Funeral Services are 11:00 am Tuesday at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus. Visitation is on Monday from 5-7 pm at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service, also at the church. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 10 am until service time at the church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

John C. Wiehn was born July 25, 1958 in Neligh, NE to Henry R. and Gertrude M. (Zach) Wiehn. He grew up in Elgin and in Columbus where he graduated from Columbus High School. Following graduation from high school, John entered the US Air Force in December of 1976. John spent the majority of his career at Beale Air Force Base in California as an Aircraft Electronics and Environmental Systems Craftsman working on SR71 and U2 aircraft. He also worked tours of duty at Travis AFB, CA, in Korea, Okinawa and in Kuwait during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Following retirement from the Air Force in 1995, John returned to Columbus where he worked for the following companies: Dale Electronics, Reliance Electric, part-time at Super 8 Motel, and Columbus Public Schools, last working at Lost Creek Elementary.

John was a community fan of all sports in the Columbus and surrounding area schools which included attending the activities of his nieces and nephews. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker and Oakland Raiders fan, NASCAR and local stock car fan, a country music fan partaking in concerts and dancing, and was an avid bowler. John was a member of Highland Park Evangelical Free Church in Columbus where he was an usher, greeter, trustee, and served in the children's ministries.

He is preceded in death by his mother Gertrude (Zach) Wiehn
