Funeral Service
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus.

Visitation
Visitation is Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at the church. There will be a 6:00 p.m. vigil service Wednesday evening at the church. Visitation will continue Thursday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Interment
Burial with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

LaVern "Sonny" Pensick, age 76 of Columbus, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at his home in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. Visitation is Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at the church. There will be a 6:00 p.m. vigil service Wednesday evening at the church. Visitation will continue Thursday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

LaVern "Sonny" Pensick was born December 17, 1931 in Columbus, Nebraska to John F. and Emma H. (Blessen) Pensick. He received his early education in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School in 1949. He attended Doane College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Sonny served in the United States Coast Guard from 1951-1954 during the Korean War. Sonny married Barbara Crockett on September 1, 1956 in Littleton, Colorado. He was a longtime employee of the Columbus Sales Pavilion. He worked for VanBerg Stables, Behlen Manufacturing and was a salesman at Nielsen Chevrolet for many years. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and their activities. Sonny enjoyed time spent with his friends in his coffee groups, V.F.W. and church members. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, American Legion Hartman Post #84 where he was the 1st Vice Commander and the V.F.W. Post #3704.

Son: Dan & Bev Pensick of Lincoln, NE
Daughter: Cheri Scow of Shelby, NE
Grandchildren: Cole & Abby Pensick of Lincoln and Dylan & Madison Scow of Shelby.
Sister: Barbara Forman of Topeka, KS
Sister-in-law: Deb & Bob Thompson of Franklin, KY
Brother-in-law: Richard & Janice Crockett of Knoxville, TN

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Virginia Maule

Memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Catholic Church Building Fund or Diabetes Research.
