Joseph Patrick Maca, 53, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2013, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Joe was born November, 19, 1960, in Rock Island, Illinois to Louis and Irene (Hughes) Maca. He attended school in Moline, Illinois and Columbus, earning his GED in 1979.
He was usually a kind, easy-going man; he often gave freely and rarely spoke badly of anyone. He was as close to fearless, in many ways, as a person could be. When he worked, he was a very hard worker. He had a strong back and was one of the toughest people Ive ever met. He enjoyed fishing at the Tailrace and had to swim around the point many times to keep a big catfish from breaking his line as it pulled him downriver. He loved, and was loved, by small children and animals. He had a very close bond with his older brother, Carl, and missed him dearly after his death in 2011. He was loved and will be sorely missed by those who knew him well.
He went to confession before his Mothers funeral in 2013 and received last rites and full forgiveness of his sins before his death. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
Joe is survived by 3 sisters, Patty (Tim) Held, Janet (Rick) Zywiec of Columbus, and Ann (Brian) Lacy of Sparks, NV; 3 brothers Jerry of Columbus, Paul (Stephanie) of Van, TX, and Dan (Tonya) Maca of Omaha; sister-in-law Kathy Maca of Columbus; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dean, Jim, and Carl Maca, sister-in-law Carri Hachat (Jerry), and nephew Trent Schacher.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to St. Anthonys or donors choice.
